The Herring Circus was operated by the Lindstrom family. The circus was "like Seaworld, only smaller," although "larger than a flea circus."[1]
On only one occasion, the circus shot a herring out of a cannon. However, the herring hit a tree. After that incident, no other herring would volunteer, and the cannon fell out of use.[2]
The circus was described to Rose Nylund by her grandfather.[3] His eccentric behavior, however, casts doubt on the story's veracity.
